How to Get Kids to Do Their Chores
Some parents are faced with picking up after their kids all of the time. This can be extremely tiresome and frustrating, especially if you have been busy working all day long or have been busy planning or doing things for the family. Here are some tips on how to get kids to do their chores. This will also help you get your house cleaned by the weekend.
Tips on How to Get Kids to Do Their Chores
- Start Teaching Them Early– Start assigning them chores at a young age. This, of course, means to assign them something that they are physical capable of doing. Making sure that their coats or sweaters are hung up properly at the end of the day is a good place to start.
- Reward Them with Stickers– Reward them for doing their assigned chores but purchasing stickers of their favorite comic characters, animals, or something that they like. Dollar stores carry stickers and inexpensive rewards that young children like. Stock up on them to use as rewards when the assigned chores are done consistently and properly.
- Make It Fun– One thing that will certainly motivate young children to get their chores done is to make it fun. You could have a clean-up time scheduled for 10 or 15 minutes before their favorite television show. Pitch in and do a little picking up for your kids but make sure that they do most of the cleaning up. Sing a song, laugh and interact with the kids while they are busy doing this chore.
- Special Treat– If your kids have kept to their chores for at least a month, you can reward them by having a movie night either at home or the cinema. Make sure to purchase their favorite snacks for the movie and don’t forget the popcorn!
