How to Avoid Summer Heartburn

This is a sponsored post in partnership with Perrigo. All opinions are my own.

My summer consists of concession stands, fairs and vacation eats as we hop from the baseball field to the fair and vacation destinations. I mean who can resist fried foods, funnel cakes, ice cream, and other delicious treats during the hot months? Summer foods are tempting but if you’re prone to frequent heartburn you tend to avoid these types of foods. Don’t let heartburn ruin your summer. Take charge of it with these tips to prevent it.

How to Avoid Summer Heartburn

Exercise Daily

A simple walk, run or any 20-30 minute daily exercise will not only help keep you fit but help avoid those extra pounds while indulging in your favorite foods and reduce the chance of getting heartburn.

Stay Elevated
If you able to prop up your bed then do it. You will feel so much better if you do so. If your bed does not prop up, try wedging some pillows under you to keep you elevated.

Eat Smaller Portions

You don’t have to eat the entire portion to enjoy the things you love. Yes, it can be tempting but take a friend and share a dish or pack it up and save it for later. You can cut the acid in half by doing this and your body will appreciate it.

Drink Water

Avoid the soda and alcohol when you can and stay hydrated with plenty of water. If you headed to a party take a case of bottled water with you or bring a reusable bottle to keep filling up.

Take a Pill (use as directed)

One of the easiest ways to avoid summer heartburn is taking a Kroger Omeprazole Orally Disintegrating Tablet. It’s designed to treat the symptoms of frequent heartburn (meaning 2 or more days a week). So if this is you, this may be the solution to your problem. No need for a prescription as it’s over the counter so you can just stop by your local Kroger store and pick it up whenever you need it. Plus you can get $3 off Kroger Omeprazole ODT 42 ct. from Ibotta!

Relief is just as little as 24 hours away or may take up to 4 days for the full effect so make sure you take it early on to get it working. I like that it’s easy to take as it just dissolves on your tongue and you don’t have to worry about swallowing large pills. And the best part is that you don’t need water to take it so you can pop one in your mouth anywhere when you need it most.

Use as directed for 14 days to treat frequent heartburn (occurring 2 or more days a week). May take 1-4 days for full effect. Not intended for immediate relief.
