Frugal-Living-Tip

School supplies can add up especially if you have more than one kid. One frugal thing I like to do each year to cut costs on school supplies are recycle the ones from the previous year. At the end of each school year, the kids bring home their leftover school supplies. I go through each of the leftover supplies and see which ones are still in good condition and barely used. If they can be reused then I set them aside for the next school year. School supplies do not have to be new for each school year and this will also help reduce our landfill.

The younger kids tend to use less of their school supplies such as few pages in a notebook and a few pencils. The older kids may only use their colored pencils and markers a few times throughout the year.  There is no need to throw out a perfectly good colored pencil, pencils, markers etc just because the school year is over.  When it’s time to gather supplies for the next school year we go through the pile and put what is reusable in their school boxes. If we don’t have a recycled, reusable item, then we purchase of what is needed.
