Thursdays at 10PM EST you can find me watching the new ABC show The Catch! If you haven’t watched The Catch you are missing out on a good TV series. It is a cat and mouse game between Alice Vaughan (Mireille Enos) a top LA private investigator and her fiancé (Peter Krause).  When Alice finds out her fiancé (Peter Krause) cons her out of millions and disappears, she is one woman you don’t want to mess with and  goes on a private mission for payback. No matter where it leads or the secrets she must keep along the way, Alice will stop at nothing to catch her man.

From the producers of “Scandal,” “Greys Anatomy” and “How to Get Away with Murder,” “The Catch” is a one-hour drama starring Mireille Enos, Peter Krause, Alimi Ballard, Jay Hayden, Jacky Ido, Rose Rollins, Elvy Yost and Sonya Walger. The Catch is executive-produced by Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Allan Heinberg and Julie Anne Robinson.

While I was in LA a few weeks ago for the Captain America Event I had the chance to chat with the costume designer Peggy Schnitzer and got a tour of the set with Rose Rollins who plays Valerie Anderson. This was a complete surprise of Rose showing up as she just happened to be there for the day. It was such a special treat for all of us!

Preparation of the Wardrobe

I had no idea so much work went into costume design for the set. Walking into the costume design area was like a fashionista’s dream as it was filled with racks and racks of beautiful clothes, gorgeous dresses, jewelry, shoes, and more. One thing that really interested me was that they documented everything that is worn on the show in a binder. It is filled with pages of pictures of outfits worn by the cast including the accessories. They do this so they can easily match up the correct outfit and accessories for that cast member or if they need to do re shoots.

The Cast and their Wardrobe

Costume designer Peggy Schnitzer designs each character’s outfit a little differently. For Alice, she is a little more feminine with a strong sense of style, Margot is not suit-y professional but more of a feminine edge and Peter wears uniforms such as dark suits with a white shirt. She tries to pair off pieces like little bits of color so they match and it all ties together. As far as prints she tries to stay away from those and stick with solid colors. The show has a 50’s style to it and was actually first shot as a 40’s style but they decided the 50’s style was more fun. To tie in the wardrobe with the 50’s style set she uses a lot more color and pieces that are sleek to their bodies.

The Wedding Dress

That gorgeous wedding dress worn for Alice’s wedding is what everyone has been talking about and wanted to see. Peggy had it beautifully displayed in her room and found out that she actually designed it herself. She got inspiration from the 30’s dress styles with a biased cut. She worked with designer Carlos Zapeda who helped pick out the fabric and stitch it.

Tour of the Set

When Rose Rollins made a surprise during our visit she offered to give us a tour of the set. It amazes me how much different a set looks different in real life than on TV. We got to walk through Alice’s apartment where we spotted the famous Maria Kreyn painting and we walked through the office. Check out the photo tour below.

Be sure to tun in to tonight’s episode 106: “THE BENEFACTOR” on ABC 10/9c. And don’t forget to watch the show live or within 3 days on your DVR for the ratings to count so we can see another season of The Catch!
