Take a piece of the ocean home with you from Moana which is now available on DVD and Blu-ray in stores and online. The soundtrack is also amazing if you have not picked that up you might want to cause I guarantee after the movie you will be singing them for weeks. Plus, Lin Manuel is kind of amazing with the music in the film. Just saying.
Learning about the Polynesian Culture was fascinating and I loved how Disney incorporated this in the film in a way that adults and kids can understand. So not only is this a great film but also a history lesson. The DVD + Blu-ray combo pack is full of bonus features from deleted scenes, short films and more and also makes a great Easter basket filler. I have so many favorite parts of this film and owning the DVD is great so I can go back and watch it over and over again.
If you have not had a chance to read all of my coverage about the film and interview from Auli’i herself + the time I literally bumped into on the red carpet, be sure to check them out.
About the Movie
Three thousand years ago, the greatest sailors in the world voyaged across the vast Pacific, discovering the many islands of Oceania. But then, for a millennium, their voyages stopped – and no one knows why. From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Moana,” a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana (voice of Auli’i Cravalho) meets the once-mighty demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity. Directed by the renowned filmmaking team of Ron Clements and John Musker (“The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” “The Princess & the Frog”) and produced by Osnat Shurer (“Lifted,” “One Man Band”), “Moana” sails into U.S. theaters on Nov. 23, 2016.
